After riding the stock bike a few times it was clear we needed to make some upgrades to allow the 110 to hold up a 175 lb adult rider. These upgrades consisted of adding stiff fork springs to the stock forks and adding a new shock while still retaining the stock swingarm. These modifications were very affordable and the installation process straightforward.

Increasing the KLXs engine size from 110 to 150ccs brought about a huge increase in power. Unfortunately along with more power comes more heat. At $385 the Moto HP oil cooler kit may not be the cheapest kit on the market but it is a quality product that has been specifically designed for our bike.

Since our last article on upgrading the suspension we have put quite a few hours on the KLX110 and made a few more upgrades. We focused the most recent upgrades on a couple key areas, improving comfort and increasing power.

The first step in upgrading our KLX 110 was to stiffen up the stock suspension. The stock fork springs and shock spring are way to soft, they blow through the travel too quickly and the forks bottom easily with my weight.
