SUBJECT: 1974 YAMAHA 250MXB This bike has a steel tank, non-chrome bore and the white, red & black paint scheme as opposed to the YZ with plastic tank, chrome bore and all yellow, as best as I recall after all these years. I currently own a vintage airplane, a 1947 Cessna C-140, and I would like to sell my bike to someone who appreciates vintage machines and was wondering if you could assist me in the sale and in an estimation of value. I started it on a few kicks last year after it was in storage for many years. It does need some minor repair and a little TLC. The throttle was sticking and there is a small leak in the fuel petcock. There appears to be no rust in the tank. There is one small tear in the seat, about one inch, that is still covered with the black tape I put over it in the late '70's. There are no dents in the tank but, the bike does have a small amount on wear on the plastic. As I recall I replaced the stock bar with a solid spun aluminum bar, changed the rear sprocket, and replaced the hand grips. To the best of my knowledge the bike is original with matching frame and engine serial numbers of 509-002993. I have attached a few pictures for your review. Thank you in advance for any way that you may be of assistance. My e-mail address is kgiroux4@comcast.net
Your bike is very clean and to the right collector might bring as high as $2000. I'm guessing that something closer to $1500 or $1600 will be the price, but you never know until you try. So, as an experiment, I'm going to run the bike in READER'S BIKES with your email. So all you vintage bike guys out there, here’s one for you guys to consider.
