What do you do when you're too short for tall seat foam but you're still looking for a little more legroom on your dirtbike? Enter Fastway's F3 footpegs with their new optional "lowboy" position. During a recent ride I had the opportunity to ride a friends 525 that had tall seat foam installed. I was surprised at how much easier it was to move around on the bike, especially going from sitting to standing. Another big advantage was how much easier it was for me to get my foot set and apply pressure to the outside peg for better cornering. Being somewhat inseam challenged - I knew I didn't want to install tall seat foam - but I did want to gain the benefits of added legroom.

 Adjustible Height

That same friend suggested I look at the new Fastway F3 footpegs that allow the pegs to be mounted either in the standard position or in the lowboy position. Mounting the pegs in the lowboy position lowers the pegs down allowing for a greater seat-to-peg distance. This increase is not only great for taller people but it can also give an advantage to shorter riders by giving them more leg room and maneuverability while retaining the stock seat height. In those off-camber slippery and nasty sections the last thing a shorter person needs is an increased opportunity to high side, an opportunity that tall seat foam can provide.

 Adjustible Angle & Cleat Height

In addition to offering the lowboy position the Fastway F3 pegs have huge 2.25 x 3.4 inch platforms and thread in pin-style cleats. You are given two choices of pin lengths so I put the short pins in front for easier shifting/braking and the taller pins everywhere else. Combine this with the adjustable angle ("Fast Kamber Mounting System") for better knee grip and you have much more than just an ordinary set of replacement footpegs. Installing the pegs was a snap and took a total of about 30 minutes, which was mostly spent "loctiting" the pins in place.

 Last Corner

After I get a chance to put some ride time on the pegs I will report back with my findings on what difference the lowboy position makes and if the pegs offer more traction and control over stock.
