Here's a must area to Loctite
on any bike: the brake actuating arm is constantly twisting and can
easily come loose. Do not use the red Loctite; light grade thread
locker is fine.
You say your Elsinore handles
weird? Chances are the old bakelite swingarm bushings are cracked, or
worn out. Remove the swingarm, and take out the old bushings with a
press, if need be.
Don't waste your time
re-installing the old-style bushings. Instead, install metal
(brass/bronze type) bushings. If you can't find any, a machine shop
can quickly carve you out a set on a lathe.
Before re-assembling the
swingarm, clean and lightly sand the swingarm pivot bolt. If it's
scored, replace it.
Lightly grease the swingarm
pivot with high-grade moly grease when putting everything back
together.
Rebuilding the top end? Fill up
the bottom end with a bit of left over pre-mix, and you'll be
surprised to see how much crud floats to the top.
