I was still mightily irritated from the fiasco at the Supercross
held at Qualcomm stadium in San Diego. The emails from readers who
experienced much the same thing merely stoked the coals.

Ever since EA Sports ran a TV commercial showing a freestyle MX rider blasting forest animals with mud and roost, and then setting the forest on fire, the off-road community has responded strong and loud.

I was sitting in front of the TV one night, flipping through the channels and saw some freestyle jumping on ESPN. While I am firmly convinced that people who do this for a living are brain damaged, it is, nonetheless, entertaining in a bizarre way. Then a commercial came on and I figured this would be a good time to head out to the fridge for a beer.

One of my favorite races each year is the Desert Vipers Grand Prix held in Adelanto, California. Last month, ORC had full coverage of this truly great event. Wow! Two days of racing with a class for just about anybody and anything. If you're an old fart like me, they've got a class for that. If you ride a vintage bike, no problem at all. In fact, the race is so popular, that well over 2000 racers show up for that weekend ? and over 50,000 spectators find good viewing spots.

(Editor's note: We received this question from a young racer and I chose to answer it in the DON'T' ASK column. However, this seemed important enough to make sure it was seen by as many people as possible, so I'm also running it as an opinion/editorial column. If you would like to respond, feel free. Editor's notes: As with most circumstances of public outrage, the furor fades with time and people tend to forget. Let me encapsulate: EA Sports, the makers of various video games for kids, released game called Freekstyle, which was no big deal. It was just in bad taste, which is no crime.

Editor's note: We received this question from a young racer and I chose to run it as an editorial. Since the column was run, we received an avalanche of mail with feedback from the readers. I'm including the letter than started it all, and my response. What follows is the opinion from the ORC readers.

you suck. your opinion on 3 wheelers sucks. i'm not going to even waste my time getting into an intellectual discussion on the matter. i'm not going to waste my time trying to sound intelligent and make good points such as bringing up the statistics on how many MORE people have wrecked on 2 wheelers as opposed to 3 wheelers or how much more stable 3 wheelers are as compared to 2 wheelers. i'm not going to waste my time doing that because it's probably already been done before, it probably will be done again because i'm sure you will be seeing or already have seen many more e-mails doing this, and also because no matter how strong of an arguement i make, i simply will NOT change your stubborn ignorant mind. so i will not waste time doing that.
