First Look: 2019 GMC Sierra Prototype Photos

Apr. 07, 2017 By Josh Burns, Photos by Glenn Paulina

Photographers recently captured the first photos of a 2019 GMC Sierra prototype testing at GM’s Proving Ground. According to the photographer who captured the images, the camouflage on this truck looks similar to what was on Silverado prototypes caught in February.  GM has tried to get clever and disguise it’s next-gen full-size trucks to look like camouflaged Ford F-150s, but this is in fact a GM and no Ford.

These new images nicely show the GMC grille design and leave little doubt about its identity. We can also see that this truck has a different LED signature in its headlights compared to the earlier shots of the 2019 Silverado.

Sources at AutoPacific tell us that this new Silverado is looking to implement an aluminum-intensive body to match the Ford F-series trucks.  The next-gen truck, which is reportedly being developed with the internal code name T1XC, will reach the market by late 2018 as a 2019 model. Our sources tell us that GM has made great efforts to refine its production processes with these lightweight materials, and promises a lighter, stronger, and more efficient truck than its competitors.

It will be interesting to see how the next Silverado ultimately stacks up against the F-150, and how GM will spin their current criticism of aluminum intensive trucks when they have one of their own.
